We are pleased to announce that Alex Zarechnak has been named Co-Manager of the Matthews Emerging Markets Equity Fund in recognition of his contributions to the Fund. John Paul Lech continues to serve as Lead Manager of the Fund.

Alex has over 25 years’ experience and a deep understanding of the macroeconomic and political developments across emerging markets.  Throughout his career, he has conducted fundamental, bottom-up research, met company management teams and identified companies to invest in. Prior to joining our firm in 2020, Alex spent a total of 15 years (1998 – 2006 and 2012 – 2019) at Wellington Management as an analyst for the firm’s flagship Emerging Markets equity fund, covering both CEEMEA and Latin America.

We are very proud of the depth and diversity of the investment team that we have built at Matthews Asia over the last 30-plus years and believe Alex will make an important contribution as the Co-Manager of the Matthews Emerging Markets Equity Fund.
